Here's a strange thing... I recompiled the kernel from the
raw tar.bzip distro and it still wouldn't do SMP. :-(

Oh, well... I've got a new motherboard coming the end of
the week. It's a brand that other people have had no
problems with, so I'll give it a shot... :-)
