I was advised at one time to try booting my SMP machine
with the -noapic command-line option at the LILO prompt. I
researched it and it had something to do with the
re-assigning of IRQs by the kernel or something...and some
machines can't handle it. Looks like yours is one of those.
Try booting with the "noapic" option at the LILO prompt and
see if that fixes it.
