I've been trying to boot a quad pentium 100 with a Xtended Xpress15 American Megatrends mother board on Redhat 6.1. The problem I've run into is if I compile with smp support, on boot it fails out trying to initialize the SCSI disk, it gets into some sort of infinite loop saying it timed out opening mbox 0 with pid 0. Sorry I don't have the exact error I haven't been able to capture it off the screen since it never boots fully. What I think is wierd is if the only change I make is to unclick the smp box in make xconfig and recompile...it will boot fine. The modules that it loads for the scsi device is eata.o Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas of what might cause this?
