Im suprised the patch doesnt work out of the box. The interfaces have not
changed, its possible the patches to Makefiles may need a tune.

Correct. DPT even provided me with free hardware to ensure that the new I2O
driver works with their boards. For 2.2.x however the DPT driver should
be solid, very solid.
