Well, if you're going to use full duplex I/O, you need a different
sound card. Just about anything but SB-campotibles will do. Even the
latest cards based on the SB16 design (including even SB AWE64 Gold!)
lack real full duplex I/O, but at least on the 16 bit cards, it's
possible to achieve 8 bit input + 16 bit output, or vice versa on
newer 16 bit cards, like AWE64. Using two sound cards is possible,
but you *will* get sync problems...

Unless you're going to do something advanced, just using the OSS API
is probably the easiest way to go...
