I have just installed a Ditto Max pro with PnP accelerator card, and
I've installed ftape 4.02 to go with it (kernel 2.0.36).
The first tape I used worked fine, and I have been able to do some small
test backups. I took the advice of reducing the max data rate to 3000
to reduce overruns (along with "hdparm -u1 -m16").
However, the second tape I tried (Imation 5GB) one fails to decrypt the
bad sector map, reporting tape parameters inconsistency, which means
that I can't use this tape. I thought the media might be duff, but
I can use it fine with the DOS qbackup.
So, there is something that ftape doesn't like this tape, which doesn't
prevent the DOS based software from using it (which means I can't really
exchange it).
Here is the extract from the syslog:
ftape-ctl.c (ftape_get_drive_status_Rfce64bdc) - status: new cartridge.
ftape-io.c (ftape_report_configuration) - TR-3 tape detected.
