That's no problem. Install the package isapnp and you will
have all tools to support PnP cards on your machine. Some
month's ago I successfully installed a PnP ISDN-card on a
similar machine.

Yes, have a look in the archive of the linux-tape mailing
list.

It's unlikely that this will work, because ditto max needs at
least (AFAIK) 2 MBit/s as data feed speed. And your on board
controller will only be able to give 500 KBit/s. Finally this
ditto dash is able of up to 4MBit/s, so speed of backup will
be rather impressive with this board. I have read on this
list that 3 MBit/s are likely to work reliable.

My ditto 2G with ditto dash reaches approx. 16 MByte/min with
compression based on 2 MBit/s. So you can expect more than 20
MByte/min. Maybe that this is hard work for your 486 but it
could work. My machine is based on a P75.
