Hi Alex,

When was the last time you cleaned the tape heads?  They could be
worn or out of alignment.  I would say it is shoeshinning a lot
also, if so try to see what else is running that is using a lot
of memory, maybe bru cannot find enough memory for double buffering.
The last thing was a wild guess, but could cause the same symptoms.
