Hi Sadhu I made a similar experience when trying to drive my ditto 2GB on my internal fdc. My m/b is socket 7, PCI, Triton based. I have a P75 installed, plenty of RAM, AMI Bios 4.51. What finally solved my problems was to install a ditto dash. Then everything went fine. Today I have my ditto dash configured at it's own port, irq (5) and dma (1). Since two weeks now even arkeia is running fine on it. You have one advantage with this board: it doubles tape speed to 2000kbs. Don't give up. > aloha friends > > warning ... this is a somewhat long description of steps i have tried > to get ftape working, a chronicle of my struggles ..thanks much for reading > it. > i am praying someone can help me. > > re, iomega ditto 2gig internal floppy tape drive. having trouble and am > hoping someone can offer a suggestion ..basic system is pentium 166, > 32mb ram, redhat 4.1 (but with new kernel). there is a sticker on the tape > drive box that says "new 3.7gb expanded capacity cartridge". That's no problem at all. > > i have been struggingling with ftape.. 4.02 .. i think i've done everything > in the instructions; installed a new kernel 2.0.36, with qic-80 support > disabled, edited modules.conf with dma, irq, i/o base .. iomega dos software > finds the drive but under linux i get 'device busy' when i try to insert the > ftape-internal module, and 'no such device' when i try ftmt or mt > on it. so i cannot access the drive at all. so with ftape i got nowhere?? > but perhaps i just made a simple error? i cannot tell. > ...
