Many Thanks Carl!

Sorry it has been so long to reply, due to various committments in
December, I was unable to get back to trying to fix my tape drive
until today. I just went for your suggestion, getting the newer
modutils, and then, everything just worked.

YIPPPEEE! what a relief!

I hope this business about the modutils could be really
emphasized in big red letters in the ftape home page and how to
docs, but, thanks to this list, the answer was supplied. Special
thanks to

        Carl J. Nobile
        Martin Jacobs
        Morgan Miskell
        Chris Karakas

especially Carl and Martin who were kind enough to send replies, and the
same clues/answers to similar problems came from Morgan and Chris. and
apologies
if i left anyone out. thanks to you too.

Gentlemen, you are wonderful people to help those of us out here struggling
with this. Carl, you were correct, there are warnings with this package
that it won't work on older kernels but it works just fine with my 2.0.36.

and, big THANKS to Claus for all your selfless ftape work!

regards,
sadhu
