Joerg,

        You probably aren't going to like this answer.
        
        Based on your configuration I suspect that your CPU can not 
        keep up with the card.  Someone on the list, I forget who,
        mentioned that you need a P166 for the DASH card to work.

        I had very similar poroblems with my card in my P75 machine.
        I also have a P233 and placed the card, the drive, and all
        the kernel configs on the P233 and the things worked and
        has continued to work perfectly.  Unfortunately I really 
        can't help much more than that as I really am not too much
        of a low-level hardware type guy.
