Hi,

I am having problems installing ftape-4.02 under Linux 2.0.27 in a
Pentium Pro box with an Iomega Ditto Max Pro (i.e., with a Ditto Dash card
connected to an ISA slot on the motherboard). Maybe someone else has
had similar problems? Let me tell you what I did:

First of all I patched the floppy.c in the kernel according to the
ftape manual, and recompiled the kernel.

`make' and `make install' worked fine.

However I get an error when trying to install the ftape-internal
module. Here's a transcript of a session (the prompt has the time):

<19:42:07> lsmod
Module:        #pages:  Used by:

<19:42:09> modprobe ftape
<19:42:12> lsmod
Module:        #pages:  Used by:
ftape             34            0

<19:42:19> modprobe zftape
<19:42:22> lsmod
Module:        #pages:  Used by:
zftape            20            0
ftape             34    [zftape]        0

<19:42:24> modprobe ftape-internal
Initialization of ftape-internal failed
ftape: Device or resource busy

<19:42:29>

Meanwhile I got the following messages in /var/log/syslog

Notes: I am not using `swapout' since I have sufficient RAM, but I also
===== tried with it with the same result.

       I'm using the defaults options in MCONFIG:

         82078_DEV=0
         FDC_OPT =      -DCONFIG_FT_FDC_BASE_$(82078_DEV)=0x370 \
                        -DCONFIG_FT_FDC_IRQ_$(82078_DEV)=6      \
                        -DCONFIG_FT_FDC_DMA_$(82078_DEV)=2      \
                        -DCONFIG_FT_NR_BUFFERS=3                \
                        -DCONFIG_FT_INT_$(82078_DEV)=1

       I also tried the other suggestions (in /etc/modules.conf):

        options ftape-internal ft_fdc_base=0x0370 ft_fdc_irq=5 ft_fdc_dma=3

       and

        options ftape-internal ft_fdc_base=0x0370 ft_fdc_irq=2 ft_fdc_dma=3

       with the same results.

       The Ditto Dash card is recognised by pnpdump, and I checked in
      /proc to make sure that there are no DMA and IRQ conflicts.

Any help would be inmensely appreciated.

Cheers, Jose
