I am using ftape 4.02 with an Iomega Ditto Max internal tape drive
with the Ditto dash DX 4Mb floppy disk accelerator and am having
trouble with the drive "shoeshining". if I issue any command other
than ftmt -f /dev/nqft0 ret the drive will endlessly move back and
forth. The drive was working fine and I made a sucessfull back up
with it, but then it stopped working. I have not changed my hardware
configuration or kernel since then.

I have read the FAQ section about shoeshining. I don't have a
computer running off a SCSI hard drive with a Adaptec 1542cf
controller card. I do however have a Adaptec 2920 controller card (
which uses the future domain 16XX chipset BTW). I tried using a kernel
with out support for this card and one with support for this card with
no luck.
