You should download ftape-tools-1.07 too to get ftmt as
replacement for mt.

If your tape is connected to the internal fdc you don't need
modules bpck-fdc, trakker and parport. zft-compressor is only
needed for backward compatibility (to read compressed
ftape-3.x-tapes). 

Check your /etc/conf.modules or module load script.

If you have a close look at your syslog you will recognize
that ftape fails to init a fdc connected to the parallel
port. That seems to be the reason that ftape does not
recognize the ditto tape.

One final hint. My DITTO 2G runs fine. But I needed to add a
ditto dash accelerator board due to problems with my PCI m/b
(Triton based). This may be necessary too if your m/b does
not support 1000kBps.

With 2000 kBps I get an overall backup throughput between 13
and 15MB/min. This is measured during large backups with
arkeia.
