This may be ok, but some older m/b may have trouble using the
same IRQ and DMA as the internal fdc. I have configured ditto
dash to it's own IRQ and DMA and it works fine.

The prvious looks like if you have compiled ftape into your
kernel. This is wrong. Look at the documentation. You should
compile your kernel without (_Yes_)ftape support.

This seems to be an error in your /etc/conf.modules file.
