Using ftape 4.02 with 2.2.x kernels

ftape 4.02 seems to be dependent on the file:
/usr/src/linux/include/linux/modules/aten.ver
Which I can't seem to locate in the 2.2.6 kernel
tree.  What should this file contain?  The version
of ftape that ships with the 2.2.x kernels does 
not seem to work properly with my iomega Ditto 
drive, so I really want to get 4.02 working again.
