Which -25 version? A 3.04d? A 4.02? A 4.03-pre? An unstable?
Which kernel are you running? How is your /etc/comf.modules
configured? Did you run swapout? Did you try insmodding ftape
first?

Strace the process. Show us the logs. What does lsmod say.

If you want an answer (after all, *you* asked a question) you
should make it easy to answer. I don't like degraded service
for me because of spammers nor because of people who let them
win. Worse, your postmaster and mine *will* get copies, as a
bounce indicates something in the mail service might be dead.
