Thanks, Juergen, I have now compiled and can get status on my Ditto 2GB
external parallel port drive.
Unfortunately the driver seems to think that the tape is write-protected,
even though the tab clearly is in the "record" position. (Just to be sure
I tried it in both positons).
The tape is marked Ditto Max 1.5/3GB -- can anyone tell me if the Ditto
2GB drive cannot write Ditto Max tape cartridges? Or if there is some
other stupid reason (like could I somehow load the driver to be
read-only by mistake?)
Before I spend more money on tapes I'd appreciate someone telling me that
this might well be the problem.
Here is the output of ftmt:
[root@petrack ftmt]# ./ftmt -f /dev/ftape status
This is a Iomega DITTO 2GB floppy tape drive, (drive type = 0x8883)
drive status = 0x0010184f
generic drive status = 0x45000000
(In particular: * at begin of tape * tape write protected * tape online *
)
sense key error = 0x00000000
residue count = 0
file number = -1
block number = -1
Thank you very much,
Scott
