Late? 2.2 are the latest stable kernels, they are not dead ---
2.3 are unstable development kernels. You want however the
"unstable" version of the 4.x ftape at the moment, since structure
changes in the kernel (from 2.0.x) gives you the "timeout" errors.
BTW, which problem report where why and what?
