Hi Joe.
With . insert you don't install ftape to your system. You're
installing ftape with - and that's no joke - make install. ;-) The .
insert command is only for testing your system.
Now I have to guess a little bit: Did you compile your kernel without
support for any tape drive? And did you say make install? If the
answers are yes we need a little bit more information about your
system. Ditto Dash card? ISApnp? How's your /etc/isapnp.cong and your
MCONFIG looking like?
