Hello,

I've recently installed the taper program b/c I wasn't able

to write to a DC2000 QIC 40 tape.. Although, I'm currently

running ftape 2.08, I just downloaded zftape 1.06(a version of ftape

that supports compression).

I'm running slack3.5(2.0.34)

My questions:

How does one setup a 3M-DC2000 40mb(Qic 40) tape for archiving?

I've taken the liberty to cut some error msgs from /var/log/messages

-----------------------------------------------------------------

has no `Linux raw format' label,
May 28 09:41:03 rufnek kernel: [010] ftape-rw.c (ftape_dumb_stop) - aborting

--------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not sure what all of these errors mean but I'd like to use the

taper program w/zftape.. I assume that I'll have to do

ln -s /dev/zftape /dev/nrft0

ln -s /dev/zftape /dev/rft0 (rm /dev/ftape) ?

Thanks in advance..
