Yes, it will work.  You need to configure your kernel for NO ftape
support and then retrieve the latest ftape drivers from Claus' site or
from our ftp site:

http://www.math1.rwth-aachen.de/~heine/ftape/archives/ftape-4.x/unstable/

  or

ftp://ftp.estinc.com/pub/linux

Once you have the drivers configured (please read the README, INSTALL,
and MCONFIG files) and installed, you will use apps like our BRU, tar,
cpio, taper, etc. to save data to the drive.
