I have a Ditto Max Pro internal, and it works. A afio-based backup run of
my machine takes around three to four hours, which isn't too bad since I
run it at night. Be prepared to buy a cleaning cartridge though, as you
are expected to use it every time after using a new tape -- you can't, on
this model, pop the hatch open and clean the head with a Q-tip and
isopropanol.

It's not the best tape drive in the world. It uses a special accelerator
card, which ties up yet another valuable expansion slot in my computer.
It might not be the most error-resistant drive/tape ever made. Cartridges
tend to be expensive, and from what I can see only Iomega makes them.

The stable Linux kernel is at version 2.2.10 right now. If you mean
RedHat 6.0, please say so. There is no such thing as Linux 5.2 or Linux
6.0.

Good luck.
