legacy backup units

Hi I have a old Irwin Magnetics TapeBackup that seems to not work with ftape.
I have a dos program that works with it and I'm trying to port it to linux
to no avail.  I'm wondering if anyone else would like to take a shot at it or maybe
find out how this program access this device and add support for it in ftape?
