After writing archive to tape
(#tar -cvzf /dev/nrft0 /home/julien)
and then rereading by
#tar -tvzf /dev/nrft0
I got the error message

Script started on Fri Sep 10 14:03:08 1999
Password:
tar (grandchild): Read error on /dev/nrft0: Input/output error
tar (grandchild): At beginning of tape, quitting now
tar (grandchild): Error is not recoverable: exiting now

gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file
tar: Child returned status 1
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
julien@beuk:/hd6/home/julien > exit

The writing to tape seemed to work without any problems. However,
an attempt to write to tape by using bru (using their new interface
1.10) fails with a message 'cannot find channel named "file5"'. The
two errors might be related.
I'm using ftape-4.x-1999_03_28.

Anyone a clue what might be the cause of these errors?
