Has anybody gotten ftape to compile using the kernels distributed with
SuSE 6.1? When I install the 2.2.6 source and compile the kernel and
don't install the precompiled modules, I can't use the mouse. When I
install the modules (kernmod) I can boot and use the system normally.

When I use 'uname -r' however, it gives me 2.2.7 -- eventhough
version.h in the linux source says 2.2.6.

This leads to a problem: When I try to insmod any of the modules, they
claim that their kernel versions don't match my current kernel. ARGH!
Must I upgrade to SuSE 6.2 in order to get a decent kernel
installation, before I can even try to compile ftape?

I'm trying to get my Iomega Ditto 2GB to work again. I used to work
back with SuSE 5.0, when I had a 2.0.36 kernel... Those were the
days... :(
