Iomega ditto max pro

Can any one confirm to me that the Iomega Ditto Max Pro  will work with
ftape.

I'm running Redhat 5.2 (2.0.37) on a Pentium 60. Ftape 4.2 compiles and
builds and I can recognise the accelerator card but the tape fails to open
("the only really serious error you can get").

The How-to lists the tape as supported but some old newsgroup stuff makes me
think there is some doubt.  Anyone with a definitive answer?
