I have an AMD K166 with a Matrox Millennium card running X, and
hosting a Ditto Max Pro + Dash card which runs at about 2000 k/min
quite reliably. I verify each backup and have no errors worth speaking
of. The device is theoretically capable of running at 4000 k/min but I
have never heard of anyone achieving this, even on a faster host
machine. Settings on the module load command line are used to restrict
the speed - ask if you want a copy of my configuration.

Many people report that the drive/card runs at or near 4000 k/min with
Windoze 9x/NT, yet struggles to reach half this under Linux. Perhaps
the Ftape authors could investigate if the driver is optimally setup
for this drive? If not I can see many people eventually migrating to
the new OnStream ATAPI drives.
