While you can backup data from a Windows system, it's very difficult to
backup a Windows _system_ from another OS, especially a Win95/98 system.
The Windows registry usually relies on the short file names, like Micros~1.
Windows makes the short file names on-the-fly, first come-first serve. If
your backup system doesn't save the short file names along with the long
file names, you will have a big problem during recovery if the files are not
created in the exact same order as they were installed originally.
To my knowledge, only the program "Ghost" and Seagate's Backup Exec during
DOS emergency recovery mode restore the short file names correctly.
And you thought Linux backup solutions were tough! Kinda makes you pine
away for TAR or something. :)
