Hmm...I had problem that sounds a lot like that, only I was using the
built-in FDC to controll the Jumbo 250. Annoyed me to no end. Except
when I checked the configuration for the floppy controller that the
driver was using, it said irq 0, dma 0, port 0, like the FDC wasn't
there at all. This made no sense to me because I could unload the ftape
modules, and mount a floppy disk without any problems. I never reported
it because I wasn't using the latest kernel (or ftape, for that matter),
and by the time I did upgrade, I needed the power cable splitter that
fed the tape drive to feed my new CD-RW drive. So now the tape drive
sits in my computer, disconnected, never knowing if it will ever work
(and read the data off of those old DC2120 tapes I made way back when,
need to transfer that stuff to a CD) The drive DID work under DOS (My
backup program would crash under Windoze). I too, got the infamous "no
member named timeout" compiler error when trying to compile the "stable"
version of ftape. You know what I did...I rewrote that part so it
looked like the version that would compile (might explain my problems
with the FDC, maybe?) This may not have been any help, but it might
give others enough extra information to figure out what's going on.
