First, thanks to Tim Jones, and the rest of you who answered my trouble
call, I'm off on the right foot. I've downloaded and successfully
compiled the unstable (most current-i,e not the *pre* version) of ftape
and ftape-tools. I'm able to access and read the volume lables of my
Sony QTR-3 tapes which have Iomega tool's volumes.

Problem:

I cant seem to format the tape using ftape-tool (or ftformat). The
tape just keeps on going, and going, and going, like the little eveready
bunny! I left it go for 12 hours! Nothing. No progress indication on
ftape-tool app. And trying tar -cf /dev/nqft0 ./* failed.

Is it the tape? Do I need to run my Win95 -ugh :(- Iomega software to
try to format the tape? Or is the Sony QTR-3 incompatible with ftape's
format utility?

While I wait for an answer, I'll format the tape using Iomega's window
95 tool, :( Then try to save something to tape using tar.

Thanks in advance!

Michael Shimko
