Klaus, the simplest fix is to rerun the 'make install' in the ftape
directory. You will be told that the device files already exist. Just
answer yes, and all of the bad entries will be replaced with good
entries.
Also, the important symlink for ftmt is "/dev/tape", not "/dev/ftape".
By linking the non-rewinding device (/dev/nqft0), you ensure that
commands like "ftmt fsf 2" actually move you to the third backup set and
leave you positioned ready to read, rather than moving you to the set
and then rewinding.
