How can I make Reliable BackUps ?
--------------------------
As Home PC User, [ stand alone 'puter] my Ditto External 2 GB
Parport Non-SCSI tape is up and running.
KDE's "KDAT" Tape BackUp Tool is &%$@# NOT reliable when used
with Ditto ~ Using "Restore" , that program restores files OTHER
than those selected !!
What program should I use, and what is reasonable back up plan ?
{{ another adventure with Kdat ~ in a general restore, certain
/lib or /usr files were restores that pulled the rug from under
the feet of Xwindows causing total crash of Xwindows and of the
Kdat program }}
Which directories must one AVOID restoring, to preserve function
of Tape Drive ??
Should I avoid doing backups from Xwindows ~ is it best to use FTAPE-Tools
from console [ no xwindows] ??
Thanks
