Hi,

I use an hp colorado T3000 for creating backups. I have a backup script,
and because I don't want the tapes to be overwritten if I forget to
switch tapes, the script did mt rewoffl to bring the tape offline.
However, if I pull out the tape, the little led starts blinking and it
doesn't stop. In order to use the tapedrive again I have to switch power
off and on again, not so convenient.

I first thought this was a hardware problem, but now I have a second
identical tapedrive, and I discovered that the mt rewoffl was the
problem cause.

When the light is blinking and I do mt status, I get all messages like:
Jan 26 17:00:39 daria kernel: [070] ftape-io.c (ftape_report_error) - errorcode:
35.
Jan 26 17:00:40 daria kernel: [071] ftape-ctl.c (ftape_get_drive_status) - error
status set.

Why can't I use mt rewoffl????

I use ftape-3.04d 25/11/97 because that's what in the kernel source and
I'm not going to switch to the latest ftape unless I know for certain
that that would solve my problem.
