I got the same error. I first tried to download and complile the latest
version. Since I never compiled the older version 3? that came with Red Hat
figured I was fine. Compiled and loaded the modules, then when I tried to
access
the device, device not configured. Ok.. Compiled 3.04 as modules, same
result.
finally recompiled 3.04 into the kernel.. and it works..
I have a colorado 250
good luck

Subject: device not configured error
I finally decided to upgrade from ftape 3.04d in kernel 2.2.14 to the
latest ftape-4.x-1999_09_11. It compiled successfully and the modules
get loaded, but when I try to issue any tape commands, I get errors
like
ftmt: /dev/qft0: Device not configured
The drive is an Iomega ditto easy 3200 (internal). I am loading the
modules with:
/sbin/modprobe ftape ft_fdc_driver=ftape-internal,none,none,none
/sbin/modprobe zftape ft_major_device_number=27
/sbin/modprobe ftape-internal ft_fdc_base=0x370 ft_fdc_irq=6
ft_fdc_dma=2
/sbin/modprobe zft-compressor
The memory, irq and dma parameters reflect the jumper settings on my
Ditto Dash controller card.
Is there something I am missing? I never had this type of error with
2.x or 3.04d.
Bob
