With my Iomega Ditto Max Pro I also cannot verify. However, I have run
restores off a tape that "cannot verify" - i. e. it gives me ECC errors -
but, disqueting as this message may seem - I can read all the files in the
archive and extract them. Don't know why tar dvf complains then...?
Also - are you trying to do this under Xwindows?
