[linux-usb-devel] Compilation error

I wanted to compile the libusb, but at ./configure time i receive that error:

#configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler cannot 
create executables.

what's the problem and how can I solve it?

Another question. How can i experiment the usb connection, with a simple 
function, to comprehend the way to send packets and dialog with devices?
I didn't find nothing in linux-usb guide...
