        I mean that the minor bits of grunt work that I've done on
the USB drivers, like making most them use the hot plugging system, are
copyright Yggdrasil Computing (and released under GPL).  In my
opinion, the GPL does not give you permission to #include
proprietary firmware.

        Now, as Greg K-H has pointed out, the whiteheat firmware
is GPL'ed, so I see no legal or general free software problem
with #include'ing the whiteheat firmware (although I think Greg
is happy to move it to the user level mechanism for purely technical
reasons in 2.5).  So, you're OK.  The keyspan firmware is the problem.
