Folk have said they've been able to take a PCI card that failed on
Cyrix over to another machine, and have it work.  That rules out
a lot of failure modes...

I wouldn't speculate about the exact root cause; nobody has yet
turned up any kind of smoking gun.  It might be that Cyrix has
docs about software fixes/workarounds for these incompatibilities.

That would lose all the USB state, and right now I don't think OHCI
cleans up fully in such cases (yet).
