With the recent introduction of the usbtest driver, I thought people might be 
interested in this:

I'm not sure how much it would help, but it looks fairly flexible, and every 
bit of testing helps.

The devices are relatively cheap:
US$118 for full speed, US$94 for low speed, according to
http://www.usb.org/data/developers/estore/USB_Product_Order_Form.pdf

Those with some interest should probably check out

as a probable funding vehicle.
