Under some circumstances it can make sense.  Suppose you want to test a 
host controller driver implementation?  Or suppose you want to see what 
packets a driver is sending/receiving without going to the time and 
trouble of adding all sorts of debugging code? -- especially if someone 
else wrote the driver and you don't understand it very well.
