Same thing happens on my 15" 1 GHz G4 PowerBook:

ohci_hcd 0001:01:1b.1: OHCI Unrecoverable Error, disabled
ohci_hcd 0001:01:1b.1: HC died; cleaning up
usb 3-1: USB disconnect, address 4
ftdi_sio 3-1:1.0: device disconnected

So it doesn't seem to relate directly to the G5.
