Have you tried using your device with a 2.6 kernel? Actually, the errors you're seeing are unusual. The problems we've had with Genesys Logic devices have all involved high speed transfers (EHCI driver). Furthermore, they occur during READs or WRITEs, not during the initial INQUIRY. Maybe the problem here isn't the bridge itself but the actual storage device attached to it?
