The ISD-300 chips appear (to me, at least) to be one of the best implementations of an USB to ATA[PI] bridge device. I highly recommend them, if given the choice.
Nice to hear that the ISD-300 seems to be a good choice.
BTW http://www2.one-eyed-alien.net/~mdharm/linux-usb/ was very helpful to choose the replacement for the GL811. Thank you!
