The method I use is to load the firmware, and then reboot linux (I don't have Windows on the box in question). A bit cumbersome, but it works. I was planning on releasing this after figuring out how to not have to reboot, but that seems quite a bit harder to fix that I expected, given what I've read here. Thus I think I'll clean it up and release it anyway. If anyone wants the code in its current state, just drop me a line.
