Reposted after redirection from linux-usb-users to linux-usb-devel,
thanks to Ged Haywood

Hi,

I'm having the same problem some people have (according to my reading of the archive at www.mail-archive.com) already posted about: external IDE/ATAPI enclosures with the GL811 chip don't work in USB 2.0 mode with the ehci-hcd driver.

Although I'm no kernel hacker per se, I'm a relatively seasoned application developer and know enough about C and related Unix tools to start messing with the kernel if need be. So I wanted to offer my help to anyone on the developer team currently trying to improve support for these devices.

If that's not possible at the moment for lack of documentation: who should receive documentation about the ASIC in question, if I started pestering Genesys Logic about supporting Linux development?

Thanks, Thomas Jahns
