"nothing"? Hm, not good. Care to enable CONFIG_USB_DEBUG and tell us what happens in the kernel log when you yank out a device and then plug it back in?

Also, could you try 2.6.6-rc3?  A number of nasty USB bugs have been
fixed in there since 2.6.5.


I managed to figure out how to fetch/configure and install 2.6.6-rc3...
and re-ran the test, and got the same results...
ie. no activity on hot-plug. :-(

So whats the next thing to check?
