That's good, I think I see exactly what the problem is. Try applying the
patch from this message:

http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-scsi&m=108491474715187&q=raw

That will probably fix your problem. The patch should appear in some upcoming Linux kernel, but I don't know which one.

You identified the problem but the fix probably isn't quite right. I tried replacing
{"Generic", "USB Storage-SMC", "0207", BLIST_FORCELUN},
in the 2.6.5 drivers/scsi/scsi_devinfo.c file with
{"Generic", "USB Storage-SMC", "0207", BLIST_FORCELUN | BLIST_INQUIRY_36},

The hub still died when I tried to mount the reader.

Since this "Generic" line was not in 2.6.4 (which works), I deleted the line entirely and everything is now working fine with 2.6.5. I'll work with 2.6.6 & 2.6.7 and let you know what I learn as soon as I get a chance. Right now, my wife has decided I need to go to the Museum of Northern Arizona because she's bored! :-)

Thanks for the help,
Phil
