I don't know the answer, but you might be able to do this by typing
echo 'VVVVV:PPPPPPPPP:0x402' >/proc/scsi/device_info
after scsi_mod is loaded and before you plug in your card reader. Here
VVVVV and PPPPPPPP should be replaced with the Vendor and Product name of
your device, as shown in /proc/scsi/scsi.
Since this really is a SCSI-related matter, not USB-related, you should
try posting your question on the SCSI mailing list:
