Hi, I've just applied the mentioned patch to my 2.6.7 and result was unsatisfactory. The thing crashes in the same way as before. However, I had an impression that it worked a bit longer this time... But I could not study this in detail -- I have to reboot after each such crash -- something goes wrong in scsi subsystem of the kernel so that I cannot unload the usb-storage module.
